Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for your interest in Pawsome Pawtraits Pet Photography.  Below you will find some useful information about our service.  If you don't find what you're looking for, please feel free to contact us.

Where will the photo-shoot take place?

Our Pawsome Pawtraits Pet Photographer will bring a mobile studio to your home.

What equipment do you bring?

We bring a backdrop, lighting units and our camera/lenses.

How much space do you need?

We can work in surprisingly small spaces but obviously this wouldn't be suitable for large dogs.  Ideally we would need an area of at least 3m x 4m but dependent on the pet, we can work in smaller areas so please contact us to discuss.

What do I need to do to prepare?

  • Please clear an appropriate space.

  • If your pet is food focussed, please make sure they are hungry at the time of the shoot as treats/food will help maintain their attention and have plenty of their favourite treats to hand.

  • It would be helpful if you could collect a few of their favourite toys/items so that these can be used to maintain your pet's attention, as necessary.  It can also help to put them at ease around the camera equipment.

  • If you have a high energy dog, please make sure they've had a good walk before the shoot.

  • You may want to groom your pet prior to the photo-shoot.  Baths often tire pets out so this can be a good thing to do on the day of the photo-shoot if you want your pet to be calm during the shoot.

What do I need to do during the shoot?

In most cases, it is useful for the pet's owner to stay with the pet during the photo-shoot and help to try and keep the pet focussed and in the position required by the photographer.  However, pets are highly sensitive to human emotion and will pick up on how their owner is feeling.  As such, it is important that owners are careful to stay calm, relaxed and enjoy the shoot without getting their pet overly excited or getting frustrated if things don't go as planned.

What type of photos do you take?

We can take a range of angles and types of photos depending on your needs.  Our ultimate aim is to try to capture your pet's unique personality through the lens.  If you have any specific requirements in this regard, please contact us to discuss.
